Until now, the traditional choices for roofs were Terracotta or Concrete. And, while these materials have various benefits, the biggest benefit they have is that they are heavy. Because traditional roofs do not have structural joined between tiles, the traditional tiles need to be heavy, or they will blow away.

With the Tractile Interlocking Roof System (TIRS), this is no longer the case. This means you can take advantage of more modern and specialized materials. Tractile tiles can be cheaper to make and cheaper to install. You can add high-tech insulation at the rear of the tile itself. On the outside, you can explore a new world of colours and finishes.

With the Tractile system, you can add the Tractile Solar RIPV-T technology. You could contain your entire solar hot water system not on your roof and inside your roof, but within your roof.

The only downside is that before where you have a choice of two, now you have a conundrum of millions. But we think that’s a nice puzzle to have.

Built to Last

Because Tractile tiles are created in one process, with all materials forming part of a single mould, the life of your roof is the life of the materials.

Corrosion, not an issue. Tractile roofs are made from a non-corrosive composite materials consisting of fiberglass and resins. This cannot corrode or oxidate.

Interlocked

90% of tile width is locked to batten, therefore this unique interlocking mountain system ensures strong roof fixture and keeps roof penetrations to an absolute minimum.

Insulation

The Eclipse product has a built-in R-value of 0.05. This is approximately equal to 2 to 4 millimetre polyester or glass wool batt. The R-value for colorbond is 0 and a for 10 millimetre concrete tile between 0.006 and 0.008 (seven times less than eclipse)

The Frame

The roof frame is the foundation of the roof. Whether you get a pre-fabricated frame, or one made individually on site, it must be square, straight and strong.

Fascia Boards

Fascia boards are the boards, behind the gutter and under the edge of the roof that provide both ventilation and put the finishing touches to the security of your roof.

A good fascia system keeps pests out, but allows air in.

In traditional roofs, fascia boards also provide a place from which to hang gutters. As gutters form part of a Tractile roof, you have more leeway in what material you can use for fascia boards and how they will look if you utilize the Tractile Interlocking Building System.

Sarking

Sarking is an important addition to a traditional roof, however Tractile roofs do not require sarking. Although this reflective, protective layer also increases the thermal and weather resistant properties of a traditional roof, the extra cost means that many do not take advantage.

Indeed, all of the weather resistant, reflective and thermal properties of sarking can be replicated and increased many-fold by the addition of certain materials within the Tractile tiles themselves.

This saves time and money and, with the integration of multiple beneficial properties in one system, reduces the changes for damage or failure significantly.
