Roof Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal

Roof Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal (RIPV-T), which is also called Building Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal (RIPV-T),  is an innovative solution to maximise the functionality of a roof tile to provide a covering that also harvests energy for electricity and heated water.

Using modern materials and technology Tractile is a complex solution delivered in a simple package that looks great and replaces traditional roofng and solar products.

Traditional roofng and solar use photovoltaic modules applied onto a roof over the existing roof material. While functional from an engineering perspective, the contrast of materials is ugly.

The evolution is to make the photovoltaic modules integrated with the roof. Other solar roof tiles can suffer from overheating and a reduction in electricity yielded from the photovoltaic module, but Tractile solar roof tiles also include piping that operates as a heat exchanger, cooling the PV, increasing the electricity output, capturing energy in the heated water in the process, and reducing the heat load on the house by capturing heat at the skin of the building and piping it away.

With electrical and plumbing connections the energy harvested by the roof can be used in anyway needed by the homeowner, such as:

  • Powering electrical equipment
  • Charging battery energy storage systems
  • Charging electric vehicles
  • Selling power to electricity grid
  • Hot water systems
  • Space heating systems
  • Pool heating systems

Tractile Eclipse Solar Roof Tiles are designed to integrate with the Tractile Eclipse roof tiles range as part of a complete roofing solution to provide a high performance roof that harvests solar energy for a lifetime.
